Photography and video convergence, just ask Esquire.com
If you ever thought that its time for photography and video convergence, will its here and its coming thick and fast. You would all know that the Canon and Nikon ranges have added to their lines of cameras the ability to shoot HD video. Some might say its not that great, but other have really taken to it.
However, Esquire magazine just released its June edition, and it will feature the very sexy Megan Fox on its cover. Guess what? It was captured with a video camera. Holy crap. What could get better than seeing her in motion. hmmmm!
It’s not an everyday camera, but the RED One. The guys that produce RED have a huge arsenal of gear that is driving this convergence to the next level. They focus on building very high resolution tools for the digital cinema market.
What kind of tools? How about a handheld camera that gets 5k resolution, all while taking digital stills at the same time? The RED Epic is a dream come true. As you film, you can depress the shutter to “tag” frames to use as stills later on. Because there is no “clicking” noise, your subjects have no idea they are being photographed. You end up with a much more candid image.
It allowed her to act,” Williams says. “She could run scenes without being reminded by the sound of a shutter every four seconds that I was taking a picture. As in still photography, a lot of it is capturing unexpected moments. This takes that one step further.
I personally can’t wait until more cameras like the RED Epic start showing up in the hands of photography pros and consumers. We already know it can be done. Now it’s a matter of time.
