Yes, I am keeping to my own self imposed deadline to have our very first blog entry done before things get hectic. Well, actually they already are. My deadline is to have this before the end of the first week, correction, by the end of the month.  And by the looks of things we have done it.

To those who don’t know me my name is Shawn Smith and I’m one of the co-founders of Blinq Photography. Our business is very simple – capture the very best imagery of athletes. This will include them in their respective events as well as working with them and their sponsor’s advertising agency. Usually the latter for anything commercial.

The time came for me to start pushing out something that resembled information for the masses. I’m always getting asked “How did I start?”, “What camera do you use?” and of course “How did you take that shot?”. Throughout this blog I will provide some details on how I did things. I’m sure Rob and I will chat about applications. Also, as the business grows we’ll talk about the challenges and pitfalls we have come into. What to avoid and what things we have been successful in. This will be great for anyone thinking of getting themselves into photography as a business.

We also want to share some of our favorite photographers in the industry. It isn’t just about us here. We’re always out and about seeking work that inspires us. There are so many ways to capture an image, and we would be foolish to think we know them all. We are always amazed by our peers.

This will wrap it up for me for my first blog post and the first for Blinq photography.
